The best retreats to book this spring
Have PTO days, will travel.
For when your PTO days are precious and your trip-planning time is limited, there are retreats: organized escapes that have the added bonus of helping you master the yoga headstand, learn to prepare raw food, make it a week without talking, or just generally feel chill af.
While there’s sometimes “work” involved (hey, emotional breakthroughs don’t just happen), it’s a different kind of work than what you might usually deal with in the office and often happens far away from the stresses of everyday life. Best of all? You just need to show up at the retreat, and the rest is taken care of. (In case The Glassy’s ultra-curated city guides still require too much trip planning.)
Here are the top retreats around the globe this spring—from long weekends to multi-day intensives—that are so worth the vacation days.
When: March 19-25
What: Dude-friendly surf-slash-yoga retreat at Maderas Village (AKA Little Brooklyn) with activities like “actionable meditation sessions around crushing life”. Um, yes?
When: March 23-25
What: Like adult sleepaway camp, only your weed won’t get confiscated—here, it’s used as a “creative tool” during workshops throughout the weekend.
When: March 23-25
What: If you’re that person who loves to remind everyone, “Sharon Salzberg’s book changed my life,” here’s your chance to experience the beloved meditation guru’s Real Love ethos IRL at the old-school Kripalu Center.
When: March 24-30
What: Some hiking here, some reiki there—in one of the dreamiest spots on earth with one of The Glassy’s favorite energy healers.
When: March 31-April 7
What: Although accommodations are a far cry from upscale, you get what amounts to your private wave at this week-long surf camp founded by surf pro Holly Beck. There’s also daily yoga, surprisingly delicious (and fueling) food, and ample hammock time—great for napping between early-morning surf sessions.
When: April 4-8
What: Yoga…with a heavy dose of tropical cocktails and late-night dancing with the Maderas Village regulars. You know, the things “bad people” do.
When: April 12-19
What: Between the sweat-intense workouts with onetime Tracy Anderson Method trainer Sam Garcia and the hyper-photogenic house you’ll be staying at, you’ll want to Insta your way through this retreat—which might be why there’s a 25-hour digital detox as part of it.
When: April 13-15
What: Loads of yoga (think Iyengar) and loving-kindness meditation sessions, no passport needed. Accommodations are rustic, but the rumor is the (healthy!) food will be cooked up by none other than one of Pies ‘n’ Thighs co-owners.
When: April 19-April 24
What: A six-day retreat (running through 420, natch) that incorporates cannabis into everything from yoga to hot tub hangs. Yes, it’s BYO.
When: April 21-28
What: Seven days of Kundalini yoga and meditation (with some reiki and shamanic healing mixed in because YOLO) meant to clear energy blockages and help you get high on your own supply. Each day focuses on a different chakra—including the food you’re served up each day.
When: April 25-30
What: Pilates retreats are few and far between—but what makes this one a Glassy fave is that you get both your ab workouts (two-a-days, in fact) and your marg-and-guac-by-the-pool time. Plus, New York Pilates’ founder Heather Andersen is one of the sweetest people in the biz.
When: April 27-29
What: Kind of like the real-life version of that heart-covered Instagram filter. Instagram-famous holistic health coach Koya Webb leads this multi-day deep-dive into extreme self-love at this 1440 Multiversity retreat.
When: April 28-May 4
What: Basically boot camp for horoscope junkies—with the added bonus of learning to read and interpret your chart from the comfort of a beach chair. I’d say your future looks bright…and very relaxing.
